Key Card Brush

Spreading Glue or Epoxy with a Hotel Key Card

When spreading glue or epoxy, consider using a hotel key card, an old gift card, or an old credit card. From my experience it is quicker and provides a more even coat than using a bristled brush.

The problem is that after a while your fingers get glue all over them and your hand gets tired holding that little card. The solution:

The Card Brush!

The Card Brush is a simple 3D printed handle that clamps onto a key card. Boom! Problem solved.

Making the Card Brush

To make the Card Brush you will need:

  • A 3D printer.
  • Two M6x20 screws and two M6 nuts.
  • Old key cards, gift cards, or credit cards.

If you have a 3D printer, the 3MF 3D file is located here: Card Brush 3D Download

This will give you a 3D Manufacturing Format file that should look like this:

Here are a bunch of them hot off of my 3D printer:

The card can be mounted in either landscape or portrait mode (for lack of better words). One way spreads softer (for evenly spreading wood glue) and the other scrapes better (for pushing thickened epoxy into crevices).

I hope you find this useful!

And, I have to give credit to my wonderful wife. She has spent a career in sales and sales training on the regional, national, and international level. She travels a lot. I once told her to please bring me any hotel key cards since I use them in the shop. I now have hundreds of them. Thank you wife.
